P Blackhall Ltd began as a one-man plumbing business and grew into a multi-trade firm covering plumbing, heating, gas and electrical work — still run by the family, still based in the city.
Our history
In 1913, Peter Blackhall set up as a plumber in Edinburgh with a handcart, a bag of tools and a simple promise: do the job properly, and treat every household as you would your own. That promise became the company motto — our family looking after yours.
Through two world wars, the post-war housing boom and the modernisation of Edinburgh's tenements, the business grew steadily by word of mouth. As homes gained central heating, the firm took on gas and heating work; as wiring standards advanced, a dedicated electrical division followed.
Today P Blackhall Ltd operates from 5 New Lairdship Yards, off Broomhouse Road, as one of Edinburgh's established family-run multi-trade firms. The same three disciplines — plumbing, heating and electrical — sit under one roof, which means a single trusted team can handle a leaking radiator, a boiler replacement and a fuse board upgrade without passing you between contractors.
Four generations on, the tools have changed completely. The standard hasn't.

We work to the electrical-contracting standards promoted by SELECT, Scotland's trade association for the industry.
Qualified local technicians
